Teaching

Emily C. Bloom teaches courses at colleges and universities and leads community-engaged learning programs in partnership with local organizations.

As a Mellon-funded Public Humanities Fellow at Sarah Lawrence College, she has taught community-engagement classes that bring together college students and elders in assisted living. At Columbia University she participated in the Justice-in-Education Initiative for formerly incarcerated men and women. Before arriving in New York, she was an instructor at Georgia State University, the United States Air Force Academy, the University of Texas at Austin, and Boston College.

In all of her classes, she aims to teach students the value of the humanities beyond the walls of the classroom.
